When I ordered my RVOSD there was mention of a free LRS for all new orders. The website stated that when it became available we could place a new order and note that we wanted the free LRS. I was just wonder when will the LRS be available? Or is it already available?

The receiver is free when you purchase the transmitter.
Then you all might want to change your RVOSD page on the Range video website. Till this day it still says:

"Important note:

RVOSD buyers will receive free RangeVideo LRS receiver module when it becomes in stock soon. *This is 40 USD value ,and to redeem it you will need to make a new order with us . * Just write inside the new order comments section 'please send me the free LRS Rx"*

that webpage ^ was a bit confusing to me . i own 3 X G6 boards, so how do i make 3 new orders for the telemetry mods without spending extra bucks ? i couldn't figure it out..................

Now:
-The unit we are offering for free is a transceiver module that goes soldered on top of RVOSD. This module does have the capability to transmit and receive data using the 420-460Mhz frequency band.
It will add the capability for RVOSD to communicate with other RVOSD. So if you flight with a team mate both will have a view of the other plane position on screen.
-It also does have a spectrum analyzer mode so you can check on board interference to the 420-460Mhz band.

We already have the transceiver modules at Rangevideo, Vova is getting the U.FL to SMA cables, and antenna set. Two of each to be included with the transceiver.

Future:
-We are also working on a ground module to add to your current RC controller. The ground module will communicate with the RVOSD module so you can get rid of the separate Rx. This will make RVOSD effectively a OSD-Autopilot-LRS receiver, all in one. This will have to be bought separately.

The way to get the free transceiver modules is:
-Make any order and ask RV to include the free module. You will need to have some skills to solder this module to RVOSD, or get someone capable of doing it. It is my understanding that if you bought multiple RVOSD6 you can ask for all transceiver modules in one order.

Meanwhile I am working on the firmware 6.05 for RVOSD6(most options will be ported to RVOSD5 after G6 release)

Whats new:
; -Added thermal assist, If enabled, the OSD will mark thermal edges and maximum lift point within.

; -Added throttle control based on current consumption, on autopilot mode the throttle will be managed to achieve target current
; this value is stored on the set cruise throttle level menu item. The autopilot will control the throttle level by setting it within
;glide throttle(uS control) and 1850uS to achieve the desired cruise current. Also, based on desired pitch, it will increase or decrease
;the throttle level based on pitch angle within max pitch angles up to 2X cruise current and down to zero current level.
;At the same time, based on speed it will increase current up to 2x cruise throttle(current) if speed goes bellow cruise speed,
;if speed goes above cruise speed throttle will be kept to cruise throttle level.
;So the autopilot can increase cruise throttle current if needed, but will never set it bellow cruise throttle current.

; -Reworked differential aileron option, now RVOSD will make the differential mix internally. Rudder channel
;(separated or combined PPM inputs) will be mixed with aileron channels. If any stabilization mode is enabled, the autopilot will
;ignore the differential. At the same time RVOSD can be set to display the differential status (spoileron-leveled-flaperon).
;This will allow full autopilot modes while using differential ailerons mode.

; -Added transceiver module controls.

; -Activate the separated EEPROM on RVOSD6, now all parameters will autosave uppon change.

Thanks for the pointer, this was the thread I was talking about...

I'm trying to understand what you wrote:

Most gliders (that is the "good" ones :), big) will have quadro flaps, i.e. 4 servos in the wing used for:

1 AIL Left
2 FLAP Left
3 FLAP right
4 AIL right

Normal flight, neutral: 1+2+3+4 without deflection
thermal flight: 2+3 down, ie. 5 degrees, 1+4 down, ie. 4 degrees (ELEVATOR compensates pitching moment)
crow/butterfly: 2+3 down, ie 30 degrees, 1+4 up ie, 30 degrees (ELEVATOR compensates pitching moment)

Can these 3 flight modes be used with FBW?

Thanks for the great idea Alex. I'm really looking forward to testing it out. Let me know if you need help.

Well, RVOSD will mix two channels(aileron and differential) and output two channels(aileron1 and aileron2). This is a flaperon output for airplanes with two ailerons only.
If you have separated ailerons and flaps, then you don't need the mix. Can use the current version, with flaps outside RVOSD, but if using composite PPM input, you can make RVOSD to display flap status.

Hi Alex,

How things are going with the new LRS. When does it suppose to be ready...?

The modules are ready, firmware ready.
However, Vova does not want to release the modules alone. He also wants the full LRS system working so both are released together.
Result, I am working on the LRS transmitter now. Both will be released together.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for your answer. So it will take some more time for both modules to be fully operational, but I think most of us trust your work and worth the time...

Let me ask again: both ail down (mode 1) and both ail normal (mode 2). Would both modes work in FBW?

Is is possible to have 2 neutrals instead of 1 (mS for all channels) to be able to use FBW in mode 1 and mode 2? (the switch for mode 1&2 could be used to jump between the 2 neutral settings)

Hi Alex,
As other people, we bougth 2 RVOS 6.0 with the idea of adding your LSR. We are exciting awaiting it comes out.
Do you know whether long range trasnmiter modul conected to the main radio transmiter, will have auxiliary plug to connect headtracker?
Any idea of the price LSR transmiter ?

Alix When can we get this module sent out to us ?

spring and summer has past, and now winter is on the ground....

We have the modules ready at Rangevideo, but Vova halted this. Now he wants to have the full package ready before we send the modules. This includes the Transmitter module for full LRS.
I don't agree, no much I can do but getting the ground unit also ready. Current status of this is we are waiting for sample from factory.

Alex, did you ever pot much thought into a firmware that will alow the user to enable and it will record multiple flights in 3d , then at a later date , user can select thru the recorded flights, Que up , hand launch, and activate, and plane flies that same path again autonomous ?

VoVa .. some of us have all our radio equipment in place, we have been promised the module for what feels like literally a year already,, Hint Hint ;)
